Our Tip of the Month: Supporting customers to audit their users.

Hi ,

Welcome to another edition.

I’ve spoken with several groups of customers recently and following one of those discussions, what struck me was the conflict between the enormity of the macro challenge - being able to provide exemplary customer service and achieving new paradigms of change in respect to diversion.

It occurred to me to reflect on the characteristics of high-performing teams. While I’m no expert in this area, there are many references for the attributes of what they look like and from personal experience, the power lies in reflecting and taking action towards improving the team you have, regardless.

It’s a tendency sometimes to think that people come built for high performance. In reality, a few do, but most require cohesion and development in their function and performance with a team.

I’d encourage you to reflect on what you are doing as a leader, in whatever role you have in your organisation, and ask yourself… how can I contribute to an improved team culture of performance? Is it by initiating a discussion on vision and alignment? We underestimate the power a candid conversation can have in connecting to a deeper truth by inspiring and aligning actions.

The work you are doing is important and you and the success of your teams are key to bringing the reality you wish to the communities you serve.

    We're Growing
    Mandalay Team Catch Up
Mandalay continues to grow and we now have many team members located across the country. It’s not often we see each other in person and this month we had the rare opportunity to come together in one place.

While not everyone could be there (roughly 3/4 were able to attend) it was great to see all of our various teams come together. It’s been an amazing journey of growth and we’re so glad to have you, our customers along for the ride.
    Meet the Team
    Aaron Rodman

We would love to introduce you to our new Chief Commercial Officer – Aaron Rodman.

As CCO, Aaron has the pleasure of leading and working with the marketing, sales, and customer success teams here at Mandalay.

Prior to joining Mandalay, Aaron spent the last 4 years as part of the initial management team that started the Containers for Change container refund scheme in Queensland.  Before that, Aaron spent a number of years working in the financial services and mining services sectors across a variety of financial, commercial and business development roles.

Aaron enjoys working with teams, that’s where he gets his energy and drive. He loves solving problems in teams and he believes that if you recruit great people and everyone comes together with their diversity of thought to tackle it from different angles, that’s where the magic is.

Aaron says the best thing about Mandalay is the team-first ethos. Everyone is so keen to chip in and deliver. He thinks it’s the coolest thing about our company and wants to help ensure we can keep it that way. Aaron is hopeful that we can drive a whole new growth trajectory that we never thought was possible and he’s excited to play his part in that journey.

Aaron confesses to always being a bit of a closet greenie. Sustainability is important to him and he’s always an advocate for recycling. In his spare time, Aaron loves horse racing, craft beer, red wine, and bike riding. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, two kids and their Cavoodle Frankie. It’s an exciting time to be part of Mandalay and we are so happy to have Aaron on board.

    Mandalay at LAWMAC August 2022
    Recap from Andrew McDougall
Andrew McDougall (Head of Facilities at Mandalay) shares his thoughts following the recent LAWMAC event held in Moranbah:
A big thank you to Karl Murdoch and the team at Isaac Regional Council for hosting LAWMAC this month in Moranbah. It was a great setting to discuss the challenges and opportunities in our regional areas for waste recovery, innovative technologies and legislative impacts. Some great discussion and presentations by DES contributed to a highly successful few days.
    Tip of the Month
    Maintaining User Permissions
A new financial year is a great time to review your data governance practices and ensure your user permissions are aligned to their current roles. Consider staff that have left or joined your organisation and ensure your user permissions have been updated to suit.
