Mandalay Newsletter June 2022: Regulatory changes commencing 1 July and Zendesk for Data Administrators

Welcome to another edition of Mandalay’s newsletter. Our staff profile this week introduces one of our unsung heroes. Naomi has been a project manager with us now for just over a year.

Here at Mandalay, we generally have over 40 projects on at any one time and the success of our projects has come down to our ability to manage our customers and all the variables on their end that come with each project. That’s why I wanted to call out Naomi, her team and those who support that function, because, over the last year, she has made an incredible improvement to the systems and processes that support our customers' success.

Project management has always been a challenge for us because it’s not necessarily something all customers see value in, yet it’s a critical aspect to the success of a project.

I want to acknowledge the hard work she’s done elevating our quality and consistency in that area. This is important as we aspire to have a high level of trust in the delivery of their success.

While she looks after multiple medium and large projects at a time, she enjoys balancing the workload between projects and checking in with clients at each stage to ensure customers are happy with the progress and the result.

With a Master of Information Systems and Project Management qualifications, Naomi has a genuine passion for both fields and over 20 years of experience. She loves that her job is fast-paced, challenging and ever-changing and enjoys the constant mental stimulation that managing projects and teams provides.

Naomi has made some tremendous improvements to our processes and documentation over the past 12 months which continues to add to the success of our projects.

Project initiation has been refined along with information gathering and documentation. Facilitating more involvement in projects, customers are given access to a project management platform, are assigned tasks and can also see tasks being ticked off within the system as their project progresses.

We can’t speak highly enough of Naomi and her amazing work. Thanks for being such a valuable member of the team Naomi, we are so glad to have you on board!

The Facility Analytics & Reporting product is an alternative to WBR and represents our new reporting product offering moving forward. This product will not only provide reports but also dramatically improve access to your data within the naus Platform. Reports are provided on two subscription tiers:

Standard Subscription (inclusive for all customers): Gives you access to Operational Reporting and an Overloaded Vehicles report.

Premium Subscription: In addition to standard features, Premium offers options to customise reports, view detailed analytics dashboards and includes initial onboarding and training.

The start of a new financial year can be stressful, there’s much to prepare and get ready for at the start of the year and it can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming. You don’t want to hire a new resource, but you also don’t want your staff to burn out.

Resource Hub wanted to remind you that their Remote Admin service can help you with those “boring” repeat monthly admin tasks to free up some hands, whether it’s an ad-hoc one-off job for busy times of the year, or you want Resource Hub to come on-board as part of your team and help out on a monthly basis.

Did you know that you can view all support requests raised by team members within your organisation? This will provide data administrators and managers with more visibility of the requests that your organisation has open with Mandalay.

Once this feature is enabled, company tickets can be viewed within the My Activities section within a tab called Organisation Requests.

Use the Follow button to receive email notifications any time a ticket is added or updated. Alternatively, click Unfollow if you’d like to turn notifications off.

We heard from several speakers over the two-day event including guest speaker MP Meaghan Scanlon, Minister for the Environment and the Great Barrier Reef talking about Regional Waste and Resource Recovery. Other interesting presentations included Linda Nordin from GHD talking about transitioning to a Circular Economy and Rob McGahey discussing the importance of lithium battery safety, handling and storage.

This trip to Central Queensland also provided a great opportunity to visit some of our customers located in the region including Benaraby Landfill in Gladstone and Lakes Creek Waste Facility in Rockhampton. It was a pleasure to finally meet Ainsley Hutchings from Rockhampton Regional Council after 3.5 years of working together through telephone and Teams meetings, and thank you to Vikki from Benaraby Landfill for arranging a site tour and allowing me to spend time in the gatehouse.
