Hi ,

Welcome to the latest Mandalay newsletter!

Wyndham City Council hosted 2 days of user forums in early February that were attended by customers from all over Victoria, NSW and even Tasmania. It’s such a great reward spending time with customers, understanding their priorities and how we can align our R&D to support their future success.

On day one our focus was on residents, resident waste behaviour and enabling behaviour change. Everyone discussed the types of problems they want to solve, how they prioritise what they are looking for from the Residents product and what type of behaviours they want to track in our system. For many of them – it was about what’s next on their priorities – what is the next level of data they can digitise to help understand behaviour whilst also improving service outcomes.

Day two was focused on facilities and facility operations that service all customer profiles; from high-volume landfills through to remote resident-servicing facilities. We discussed the roadmap around what we are doing for our customers in the Facility Product Suite and Commercial Services space. With the consensus of issues facing them being very similar to those identified at our user forum in Perth last September, it was pleasing to see that we are focused on what our customers identify as their key issues.

Our focus for all forums is to create a channel that leads to the progress of thought and equipping you with knowledge, insight and networks to support your success. We have another forum coming up in Queensland too, so watch this space if you'd like to join us at that event.

Mornington Peninsula Shire Case Study

Waste Vouchers for Tenants

Are you looking for a better way to streamline the distribution of waste vouchers to tenants in your community?

We had the privilege of speaking with Daniel Hinson, the Team Leader of Circular Economy and Waste at Mornington Peninsula Shire. Daniel kindly shares his insights into their recent adoption of self-service digital waste vouchers for tenants with Mandalay in our recent Case Study.

"It’s been a remarkably smooth and successful transition for the tenants".’ - Daniel Hinson

Meet the Team

Natalie Ulmer

With several teams within Mandalay working alongside each other to deliver new products and product enhancements, our Quality Assurance (QA) team has continued to grow.

Mandalay’ QA team thoroughly test all new products, and enhancements to existing products before they are released.

This month, we’d like to introduce Natalie Ulmer. Natalie joined our QA team in 2022 as part of the Commercial Services and the Data and Reporting teams, where she conducts thorough system testing to ensure data accuracy and expected outputs from products.

Natalie has had over 10 years of experience in QA roles across a diverse range of industries. While the waste industry is new to Natalie, being new to this space has given her an edge to question common problems and understand things in a different way. Natalie says she is a ‘Why’ person. Once she understands the ‘Why’, she can understand the problem better and look at it from the customer’s perspective.

Natalie is enjoying working with such a wide and diverse team and contributing to Mandalay’s goals.  On a personal note, Natalie’s favourite hobbies are cooking, cross-stitching and playing games on the switch and she absolutely adores her 2 spoodles named Dolly and Franky. Glad to have you in the team Natalie!

Reporting Product Updates

Facility Analytics & Reporting
Field Updates & General Release

It has been a huge start to the year for the Data and Reporting team with a massive list of product updates being released in mid-January.

Detailed information was circulated to all customers prior to the release. Here’s a quick recap in case you missed it:

  • Several field names used within reports were updated in an ongoing effort to increase usability across Time Sensitive and Operational Reporting.

  • Images captured during a transaction can now be accessed from Transaction Search within Facility Management and can be printed in the downloadable report.

  • A new Client Details Report and date filter are now available within Data Export.

  • Two new reports are now available within Time Sensitive Reporting. Plus, the time range within Time Sensitive Reporting has been expanded to 48hrs, there is a new date slicer, and advanced search available.

These along with all other updates and enhancements have been outlined in a detailed article available on the Customer Service Portal (CSP). Need more help? Contact Mandalay Support

Your New Transaction Search Experience

Have you started using the new Transaction Search tool now available within Facility Management (Analytics & Reporting)?

This new tool is on track to replace the existing naus Transaction Search and offers several key features not previously available.

Basic and Advanced Search Options: Tailor your searches with basic and advanced options to find the information you need.

Inclusion of Cancelled Tickets: Include cancelled tickets in your searches.

Docket Reprinting: Re-print dockets directly from Transaction Search (available to customers who have upgraded to version 3.7 of Mandalay’s ticketing application).

Detailed Transaction Information: The Transaction Details Page now provides more in-depth information per transaction.

View Previous Ticket Versions: Where multiple versions of a ticket exist, you can seamlessly scroll through previous versions.

Customers will be notified prior to the existing naus Transaction Search being removed from the naus Platform.

Users must be assigned the Transaction Search permission within Facility Management to be able to access the new Transaction Search tool. If you do not have access, speak with your system administrator.

Out and About with Brendon

15 Customers, 3,000km

Towards the end of last year, Brendon (Mandalay's Head of Customer Success) travelled almost the entire length of the New South Wales coast to visit customers and facilities in what turned out to be a 3,000km road trip. While he didn’t manage to visit everyone, it did round out a very busy year and gave him a great opportunity to spend time with several customers.

Brendon will be out and about again this year, popping in to see as many customers and facilities as he can. As trips are planned throughout the year, he will be in touch to let you know where he will be heading and when.

Tip of the Month

Do You Have a Business Continuity Plan in Place?

Have you considered what you will do to continue operating and recording transaction data in the event of a significant disruption? Not just for large natural disasters, but also for other incidents like a power outage, weighbridge failure, or infrastructure maintenance resulting in an outage or the inability to occupy the gatehouse?

What will you do?

How will you take payment?

Do you have a process in place for manual records and receipts?

Is an extra cash float available?

Having a plan ready in advance will ease the strain on your team when disaster does strike. Reach out to our support team if you’d like some assistance.

Proactive Hardware Reviews

Keeping Your Hardware Up-to-Date

Mandalay Technologies has begun conducting proactive reviews of the warranty status of assets we have supplied to our customers.

These audits will continue throughout the year and as we find devices that are out of warranty or about to exceed their warranty, we will be reaching out to offer replacement devices.

Out of warranty devices can expose various risks to your business including increased downtime due to lack of support from the manufacturers if these units are to fail. To mitigate these risks, we recommend that out of warranty devices be replaced.
