Welcome to another Mandalay newsletter!

This is a complex issue, but one I thought relevant to comment on. The recent media release circulated by WMRR in relation to the NSW election provided a strong call to action to achieve diversion outcomes and circular economy ambitions. The role of the state in providing the right regulatory framework is undeniable.

Equally, I’d like to draw attention to a recent Waste Management Review article that focused on a customer of ours, AlburyCity. They are a NSW council who are already well on their way to achieving the 80% diversion target they have set, without the support of a landfill levy and within the limitations identified in NSW.

Like anything in life, success is within our control if we choose it.

In AlburyCity’s case, there has always been a focus on the business unit being economically viable and investing in greater diversion outcomes. They have identified what can be achieved within their community, continue to make iterative progress, investigate new or alternative solutions, and have alignment with their stakeholders. This has not happened overnight but has been a committed focus for a decade.

Yes, the key initiatives identified by WMRR will be important to the industry and there needs to be clear education at the political level in order to have State support toward Federal targets.

Success is within your remit now, and we are committed to supporting your success. I would love to have a chat about this or any of the challenges you face so please reach out.

Spending Time with Customers in Person
Many of you will know our Senior Implementation Consultant, Kumar Kannan.

Like many of our team, Kumar is available to support customers remotely, but he also thoroughly enjoys traveling and will visit facilities and teams in person when the opportunity arises.

This month Kumar spent time in Western Australia delivering training to the teams at Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council (EMRC) and Shire of Northam, and took the opportunity to visit with the team at Western Metropolitan Regional Council (WMRC).

It’s been a busy month as Emily and Shelby have also spent time with customers in WA too.

Kumar’s next stop will be Victoria.

Tip of the Month
Keep Your User Permissions Current
It’s good practice to ensure that the permissions you have set for your users are kept up to date. Not only will this keep your systems organised, but from a security perspective, it will make sure that the right people have access to the right information.
Be sure to consider staff who have left or new staff who have joined your organisation and ensure access and permissions have been updated to suit.

Access to Applications From the Cloud
Access is managed within the naus Platform. Select the applications that a user should have access to and the role they should have. For example, are they a user or an admin.

For more detailed information about managing user access in the naus Platform, visit this article on Mandalay's Customer Service Portal (CSP) - Managing Users in naus Platform.

Application Permissions
Permissions are managed within each application. For example, the user permissions for Facility Analytics & Reporting are managed within that application.

Facility Analytics & Reporting
Filter Your Data to Refine Your Reports
Operational Reports within the Facility Analytics & Reporting product allow you to filter the information in a report.
Slicers

The controls across the top of a report are often called slicers as they allow you to cut down or refine the information that you can see.
Your data can be sliced in several different ways, depending on the report that you're working with.

As you update the slicers, the remaining slicer options will automatically update. This means that you will only be given options within each slicer that have relevant information available to them. For example, if you have selected a particular product, only the sites where that product is available will remain visible.
Filters

In addition to slicers, there is also a group of filters down the right-hand side that will allow you to refine your reports even more. These are often used to set background filters that don’t frequently change.
How Do You Access Mandalay's Facility Reporting Products?
The Facility Analytics and Reporting product can be accessed via the naus Platform. Once you have logged into the naus Platform, click on the blue Facility Management tile.
The reports you can access will depend on the subscription that you have.

Standard Reports: All customers have access to the Data Export tool and standard Operational reports within standard reporting.

Premium Reports and Insights: In addition to standard reports, customers using the Premium product can also access Custom Operational Reports, Administration Reports, Security & Auditing, System Status, and Facility Insights.
