Hi ,

Welcome to our latest newsletter!

The weighbridge software market in Australia is entering a new chapter. Following Mandalay’s sale to AMCS Group, we’re watching the market evolve rapidly. Amid these changes, we remain focused on what matters most—delivering quality solutions and exceptional service to our customers. Thank you to all of the new customers who have committed to making the change to us—their support is testament to the efforts of our team over the years and our continued focus.

A special shout-out to Rosemary Black and our delivery team—both seasoned and new faces—for upholding our high standards and ensuring smooth transitions for our customers. We have been experiencing a bit more change in personnel than usual which is to be expected so we are very conscious of maintaining the same customer focus in all we do.

This period of change has also allowed me to spend more time on-site, exploring how technology can improve facility operations and service delivery. The focus on integration to onboards systems and AI comes up frequently in conversations—so looking forward to sharing our investment in these areas over the coming period.

I’m also seeing, particularly amongst our council market, a real focus on trying to track ’source of load’ to a level I’ve not experienced before, and I know we have some unique capabilities about how to solve that for customers.

Now, let’s dive into this month’s updates, insights, and stories from across the sector.

KTS Recycling

Customer Story

As Melbourne’s premier resource recovery and waste transfer station operator, KTS Recycling makes recycling Melbourne’s waste their business.

Recently, KTS Recycling completed the implementation and training for Mandalay, successfully onboarding Ticketing, Finance Export, Image Capture, Facility Analytics and Reporting, and EFTPOS Integration.

Linda Wright, Finance Manager at KTS Recycling, shared that their team had a fantastic experience throughout the process.

“The service was excellent, and everything stayed on track from start to finish. The team was not only professional but also incredibly helpful during the training and setup.”

She added that the training sessions were fun and interactive. “Kumar was very funny, patient, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure everything ran smoothly. Antony was also very patient when customising our invoicing export format.”

“Overall, it was a truly top-tier experience—professional, helpful, and results-driven. Highly recommended!”

On behalf of the team, we would like to sincerely thank KTS Recycling for their kind feedback and for trusting us to support their operations. We look forward to continuing this great partnership.

Product Updates

Resident Product Suite

New Features Continually Being Released

The programmes available within the Residents Suite have continued to expand, offering even more flexibility for councils to deliver services that meet the unique needs of their communities.

Tip Passes and Waste Vouchers can now be delivered to tenants of eligible rental properties in addition to property owners.

While passes can still be delivered as physical vouchers, the online self-service portal will allow your residents to self-verify against an eligible property address. Based on the rules your council has set, residents will only gain access to the entitlements available for their address.

There has been an incredible amount of work taking place within the Bulk Waste Bookings programme with new features continually being made available to customers. Councils continue to have complete control over who is eligible to make a booking along with the rules attached to booking entitlements.

New features delivered include property zones, capacity management, booking workflows, lead times and booking windows.

Is your council planning ahead for 2026? Talk with us today about your waste voucher, tip pass, bulk waste, hard rubbish or verge collection entitlement requirements.

Vehicle Authorisation

Now Available

The new Vehicle Authorisation feature offers several benefits, streamlining processes for both you and your customers.

  • Account Security for Your Customers: Add an additional level of security for your customers’ accounts by limiting account use to authorised vehicles, ensuring transactions are recorded against correct accounts.

  • Simplified Account Selection for Your Operators: Operators will only be able to select an account if the vehicle appears in the authorised vehicle list. Operators can override the system if they have the correct permission level.

  • Elimination of Manual Data Entry: If you are using the Commercial Services product, vehicle authorisations can be managed by your customers within the Commercial Services Portal, reducing data entry for your team.

Vehicle Authorisation is now available for customers who have upgraded to version 3.7 of Mandalay Ticketing, during 2025.

Please reach out if this is a feature your team would like to begin using, or visit these articles to learn more.

QLD Regulatory

Changes Coming to QWDS

For customers in Queensland, the state regulator (DETSI) has announced that the Queensland Waste Data System (QWDS) will be upgraded in mid-November.

We are currently working through the changes required to our Regulatory Management application.

An email was circulated to Queensland customers earlier this week outlining further information. Please reach out to our support team if you have not received this email.

Facility Analytics & Reporting

Updated User Permission Reports Available Soon

Our latest reporting release is due to go out this week and will introduce updated versions of the Access & Permissions Reports.

These reports will be available to customers using Premium Reporting and will provide a more detailed view of user and group permissions that have been assigned to users within your organisation.

Detailed release notes will be circulated to customers once the updated reports have been made available.

If you would like assistance with any of your Mandalay products, please reach out to the Mandalay Product Support Team.

Tip of the Month: Premium Reporting

Using Relative Date Pickers

Have you tried using relative date filters in your custom reports?
If you're subscribed to our Premium reporting product, relative date filters can help you automatically display data for specific time periods like "Last 30 Days" or "This Quarter" without manually updating date ranges.

Using a Slicer Visual

A slicer visual will allow you to use a dropdown to select a desired period of time. This could be the last number of days, weeks, months, years, or even minutes or hours.

Using the Filters Pane

The Filters Pane offers an alternative to adding a slicer visual. By adding your date field to the Filters Pane you can change the filter type to Relative date or Relative Time.

Tip of the Month: Ticketing

Using Alerts for Operations

Many clients utilise the alerts feature within the Facility Core Product (Mandalay CS) for notifying operators about a client or vehicle, but have you considered using alerts to assist in the operations of your site?

Alerts can also be set on products for things such as directing traffic to a stockpile or for setting reminders to check for contamination.

The alerts section included in this article provides additional information about setting up and using Alerts.

Summer is Just Around the Corner

Is Your Organisation Disaster Ready?

That time of year is already upon us where we need to prepare for the likelihood of floods, severe storm damage, fires and dust storms.

During disasters, there is little time to react. Planning in advance will ensure better outcomes.

How prepared are your facilities for disaster?

  • Do you have a disaster plan in place for your waste facilities?

  • What approach do you have for measuring volumes and transactional movements of waste?

  • What is your communication plan if disaster hits?

  • How will you manage pre-emptive free tipping or clean up days as part of your disaster response strategy?

Having the tools ready in advance of an event will limit the effort required when disaster does strike.

Mandalay is here to support your preparation efforts and can offer support across the following key areas:

  • Best practice data collection and gatehouse operation

  • Disaster waste data collection

  • Daily reporting and data collation

Proactive Hardware Reviews

Keeping Your Hardware Up-to-Date

Are any of your PC’s or site hardware out of warranty? Now is a good time to check your devices and critical backend infrastructure to ensure everything is still in working condition in preparation for the new year.

Out of warranty devices can expose various risks to your business including increased downtime due to lack of support from manufacturers, particularly if these units are to fail over the Christmas period.

If you have a device that is out of warranty, reach out to Mandalay’s support team to order a replacement.
