Hi ,

In any industry, there are various indicators of change. In the waste and recycling industry, what I’ve observed in recent times is the uptick in reporting requirements across multiple organisations. But in many of those cases, they have settled on doing it manually in excel and accepting the limitations that go with that.

In all my travels globally, particularly in Europe looking at advanced waste performance management, I’ve seen detailed examples of many councils working together in a highly organised and disciplined fashion to aggregate standardised performance metrics across all sorts of data with the purpose of managing contracts. Even then, they were lacking the systems to do that well.

Here at Mandalay, we sit in lots of conversations around these types of problems across different stakeholders within our market. If this is something you are thinking about or are facing a problem with, please feel free to reach out to us to talk about what we are doing.

    Western Metropolitan Regional Council
CEO of Western Metropolitan Regional Council (WMRC), Stefan Frodsham, recently shared his wonderful insights with us on how Mandalay has impacted their business.

“We switched to a Mandalay weighbridge management system at our West Metro Recycling Centre two years ago. The operating efficiencies, and data management and customer service improvements brought about by Mandalay have been transformational for our business.” - Stefan Frodsham, WMRC

Thanks for this amazing feedback Stefan! Discover why to choose Mandalay for your waste facility and learn more about WMRC’s recycling and disposal services.

    Meet the Team
    Antony Gledstone
Our Product Manager Antony Gledstone is a vital and long-standing part of the Mandalay family with an impressive 14-year-long history with us. When he first joined us, he applied for a product support role and ended up working as a developer. After a few years in that role, he moved into support and training and eventually filled a key role within the management of the Facility Product Suite (CS).

As our Product Manager, Antony is influential in deciding what needs to be built into the Facility Product Suite. He enjoys focusing on product development and taking on a business analyst role. He wears many hats and is often involved throughout the customer journey at some level from pre-sales right through to implementation and support. Because he has been with Mandalay for so long, he has a thorough understanding of the business, our customers, and the industry, and because of his knowledge, he’s seen by many of us internally as the CS Oracle.

Currently, he has been enjoying working on the new facility mobile apps. He says it’s something new for him, it’s exciting and it involves delving into an area we’ve never explored as a company before. The focus in this space is looking at mobile solutions and what can be done away from the weighbridge to help the facility operator further.

After learning a lot about waste during his time at Mandalay, Antony feels he is more conscious of what he does with his waste and excess consumption. He also values being in a job with an ethical value to it, which is why he likes working here so much. It feels as if there is a purpose behind what we do. We enjoy having you on the team Antony and we hope you will continue to be with us for many years to come.
Summer is Just Around the Corner
    Is Your Organisation Disaster Ready?
Summer is just around the corner and several regions across Australia have already experienced recent flooding. Now is the time to prepare for the likelihood of floods, severe storm damage, fires and dust storms.
During disasters, there's often little time to react and the impact on businesses can be devastating. That is why it is so important to plan in advance to help ensure a better outcome.
How prepared are your facilities for disaster?

    • Do you have a disaster plan in place for your waste facilities?
    • What approach do you have for measuring volumes and transactional movements of disaster waste?
    • What is your communication plan if disaster hits?
    • How will you manage pre-emptive free tipping or clean-up days as part of your disaster response strategy?
Having the tools ready in advance will minimise the effort required when disaster does strike. Mandalay is here to support your preparation efforts and can offer support across these key areas:

    • Best practice data collection and gatehouse operation
    • Disaster waste data collection
    • Daily reporting and data collation

We’d like to send our thoughts to anyone who has been affected by the recent events. If you require support with your data capture requirements, please reach out to our team.
