Tip of the Month: Find Image Capture photos after a ticket has been amended.
Hi ,
I wanted to touch on what has no doubt been on all our minds following the recent weather events experienced through South-East Queensland and New South Wales. I had the privilege of growing up in the Northern Rivers, have had many experiences of living through floods and have personally lived through a situation where I lost the contents of a house due to a flood. The devastation you feel when you have lost all your belongings when everything is covered in mud is something that is difficult to recover from. And I think looking back at the 2011 floods, which was a 1 in 100-year event, then to experience another flood event on a larger scale 10 years later, brings into question so many issues for society and impacts so many areas, including waste. I don’t know what the answers are, but all I see when I drive the streets around me is the enormous amount of waste generated from this round of flooding and the hundreds of millions of dollars that will be spent on disposing of that waste, especially if weather events like this occur more frequently going forward. The importance of the work that you do within the waste and resource recovery space, and the importance of educating customers around behaviours
and alternative solutions has never been greater than it is now. While it can feel a little overwhelming, at the same time, hopefully it provides you with a sense of greater purpose for the objective you have in serving your community to achieve better outcomes for our society going forward.
Kerry Dalton - Coordinator for Landfill Operations and Compliance at Bundaberg Regional Council - shares the challenges that council had faced with their waste voucher program and the steps they have taken to overcome them by implementing a new voucher system from Mandalay.
