Welcome to the latest Mandalay newsletter!


I write this message to you from regional Australia towards the end of a few weeks of client visits, and the experience I’ve had with customers over this time has been incredibly rewarding.  


Whilst I’m sure each sector or area has its own set of challenges; I personally can’t think of another area whereby the need to maintain an existing service while trying to implement change is as great as the waste industry. For example, there is massive pressure to pick up existing bins and an ever-increasing expectation to innovate around that. To deliver both at the same time is incredibly difficult.   


When you look at it, if you take that context and apply it to a business sense, then the need for ruthless prioritisation is even more critical than ever before to effect change in an organisation. Here at Mandalay, the prioritisation and focus we’ve brought over the past 5-10 years has set us up for the success we enjoy today. The difficulty is that it takes time to bear fruit. If you want to make real change it’s vital to understand that it takes time.

Terreco Resources

We’re happy to welcome Terreco Resources as one of our newest customers here at Mandalay.


Terreco provides safe, compliant material disposal and supply for the construction, demolition and civil industries in Brisbane, the Gold Coast and northern NSW to meet the region’s recycling and circular economy objectives.

Meet the Team

Daniel Spindler

Meet Daniel Spindler, our excellent Site Reliability Engineer here at Mandalay Technologies. 


Daniel is responsible for helping to build reliability into our software in areas such as capacity management, security, availability, confidentiality, integrity and compliance to ensure our applications are secure, resilient and maintained to current industry standards for our customers.

Along with providing vital support to our Development Operations and developer teams, Daniel has also been focused on ensuring we are committed to our ISO certification, particularly through the recent audit process and recertification.


Over the last 3-4 years of his career and including his time here at Mandalay, Daniel has been helping and providing support to Development Operations and developer teams with software deployment and other critical tasks which has allowed these teams to focus their efforts on delivering code and maximising value for you, our customer.


When he's not immersed in the world of technology, Daniel spends quality time with his two boys. He's passionate about staying on the cutting edge of tech advancements and is currently pursuing a Kubernetes certification. Additionally, he enjoys a good game of Futsal and as a Gold Coast local, he regularly enjoys a refreshing swim at the beach.


Daniel is truly a valuable asset to our team and we’re grateful for the wealth of knowledge and expertise he brings!

We are delighted to announce that we have recently undergone a rigorous audit to achieve recertification under the latest ISO 27001 certification version, underscoring our dedication to protecting your data.

At Mandalay, ISO certification isn't just about ticking a box. Think of it as a system and cycle of continuous improvement that helps us take concrete steps to make sure your data stays safe by putting real security measures in place.

Provide Waste Vouchers to the Right People

With Easy Tenant Verification

Does your Council offer waste entitlements to the community? With Mandalay's Resident Product Suite, you can easily distribute and manage waste entitlements, such as waste vouchers and tip passes, to the right people. 


Reliable verification methods are available to ensure that only eligible community members receive waste entitlements. For example, property owners can be verified through their rates notices and tenants can be verified through their real estate managers


Our unique tenant verification method has proven to be a success with early adoption and significant use from tenants and real-estate agents alike.

Facility Core - Ticketing
Version 3.7


Version 3.7 of Mandalay’s ticketing application is continuing an initial roll out to select customers. A wider rollout is expected to be announced very soon. 

We will be delivering a webinar to customers in the coming weeks that will introduce the new features being released.

Progress is being made and several customers have now been granted early access. 


A new video has also been released providing a tour of the product. If you haven’t seen it yet, head over to the naus Platform and click on the Commercial Management tile. 

Facility Analytics & Reporting

New Reports Available

Mandalay’s Data and Reporting team continue to improve reports and features within the Facility Analytics & Reporting product.


Since our last newsletter, a new Paged Report template has been released along with a new Transaction Search tool. Here’s an overview:

Transaction Search:

This new Transaction Search tool offers advanced search options, the ability to include cancelled tickets in search results and more detailed information per transaction. Plus, once customers have upgraded to version 3.7 of Mandalay’s Facility Core Product (Mandalay CS) dockets can be re-printed directly from Transaction Search.

NSW EPA WARRP Report:

Available as a standard template within Paged Reports, this report provides data in a format that can be easily transferred into the NSW EPA Waste and Resource Reporting Portal (WARRP).

Proactive Hardware Reviews

Keeping Your Hardware Up-to-Date

Mandalay Technologies is currently conducting proactive reviews of the warranty status of assets we have supplied to our customers.


These audits will continue into the new year and as we find devices that are out of warranty or about to exceed their warranty, we will be reaching out to offer replacement devices.

Out of warranty devices can expose various risks to your business including increased downtime due to lack of support from the manufacturers if these units are to fail. To mitigate these risks, we recommend that out of warranty devices be replaced.

Is Your Organisation Disaster Ready?

That time of year is already upon us where we need to prepare for the likelihood of floods, severe storm damage, fires and dust storms.


During disasters, there is little time to react. Planning in advance will ensure better outcomes.

How prepared are your facilities for disaster?

  • Do you have a disaster plan in place for your waste facilities?

  • What approach do you have for measuring volumes and transactional movements of waste?

  • What is your communication plan if disaster hits?

  • How will you manage pre-emptive free tipping or clean up days as part of your disaster response strategy?

Having the tools ready in advance of an event will limit the effort required when disaster does strike.

Tip of the Month

Replacing Scale Indicators

Are you planning to replace your Scale Indicator? 


If a scale indicator is replaced, the Mandalay Ticketing system will need to be reconfigured to accept information from the new scale feed.  

To ensure minimal disruption, please reach out to the Mandalay team in advance as this work will need to be scheduled.
