Hi ,
Welcome to the latest Mandalay newsletter!
We have been focused on strengthening the digital connections you have with your customers and community, and we're glad to continue seeing lots of engagement because of it. Whether that connection is with the resident community through scheduling and managing bulk waste bookings, or with commercial customers through improving access to transaction information. It’s an area we have a deep interest in here at Mandalay and I’ve been excited to discuss these topics with our customers and see how we can continue building on our existing products to further support these outcomes.
In this newsletter, we share some exciting product updates and tips, a new company photo of our growing team, an insightful customer story from Dubbo Regional Council and much more. |

New Customer Story
Dubbo Regional Council |
This month we’re excited to welcome Dubbo Regional Council as a new Mandalay Technologies customer. In addition to Facility Core Ticketing, Dubbo has implemented several products including Federated ID, Image Capture, and Resident Services to manage tip vouchers and bulky collection bookings. |
Jamie Lobb, Manager of Resource Recovery and Efficiency at Dubbo is thrilled to now be working with one system, instead of managing several. |
‘A significant benefit of moving to Mandalay has been the ability to consolidate multiple systems that were previously used.’
The team now has access to valuable data that can inform decisions about service changes, facility resourcing needs, and operating hours. This data helps them better understand their customers and optimise operations. Jamie and the team can now use this information for customer reporting, facility compliance, and tracking the usage of bulky and tip vouchers. |
‘Data is key. The ability to access data allows waste teams to bring council on the journey with a statistical view that can support future decisions.’ |
As part of the transition, Dubbo also expanded their bulky waste service to allow eligible residents to book collections to suit their needs, rather than restricting them to a short 2-month window designated by council. |
‘Offering an all year round service has multiple benefits for council and community.’
We’re thrilled to be working with the Dubbo team and look forward to learning more from their experiences.

Bulk Waste and Verge Collection |
Streamline Your Bulk Waste Management |
Mandalay’s Bulk Waste Bookings product is now available and will enhance hard rubbish/verge collection services for your community.
Remove the hassle of managing programmes that are restricted to a specific month or period within the year by giving residents access to book collections year round. By spreading bookings out across the year Council can avoid issues such as incorrect items being presented, items being presented at incorrect times and illegal dumping.
The Bulk Waste Bookings programme within Resident Services will allow your team to manage bulk waste, hard rubbish and verge collection booking requests with ease. |
Define eligibility - All entitlements are linked directly with individual addresses. This allows you to set rules, identify who can use entitlements and reduce the instance of misuse.
Define booking rules – Identify the number of entitlements, collection zones and timeslots available to ensure bookings are accurate.
Capture booking details – Pickup dates, address details and special driver instructions can be exported for collections contractors.
Self-Service capability – Give your residents the ability to manage their bulk waste collection bookings from their mobile.
Access for your team – Key members of your team can be given access to allow them to support your community. |

Meet the Team |
Mandalay Company Catch Up |
Our team recently enjoyed a rare face-to-face company-wide gathering in our office building's rooftop, boasting spectacular views of the Brisbane City skyline. Staff from across Southeast Queensland, and even some from other Australian cities and states, joined us for this in-person event.
While digital collaboration through Microsoft Teams, email, and Slack is essential for our daily operations, nothing beats the power of in-person connection. These regular gatherings strengthen our company's bonds and teamwork, reminding us of the importance of building relationships beyond the digital realm.
The event showcased our team's continued growth too. As you can see from our latest team photo, this gathering was no exception, and it left everyone feeling energised and optimistic. We're already looking forward to our next company-wide get-together at the end of the year. |

Commercial Services |
Reducing Data Maintenance with Vehicle Authorisations |
With new organisations signing up to get access to their dockets and data every day, we’re commencing work on the next feature in our Commercial Services suite.
We’ve heard from our customer base and they want to increase automation and reduce data maintenance. One specific scenario that keeps coming up is managing the links between Facility Clients and their vehicles.
So, we’re working on a new feature called vehicle authorisations that will allow the client and vehicle relationship to be managed by the client.
Initially we will focus on vehicle authorisations that will:
-
Reduce data maintenance by giving your client accounts the ability to manage vehicles and remove the reliance on your team to update information.
-
Ensure transactions are recorded against correct accounts, leading to a reduction in billing disputes, enquiries, the need to re-issue tickets and credit notes, and reduce the financial liability held by your organisation.
We will continue to share more as we build this exciting piece of functionality.

Tip of The Month |
Do You Have an Alternative Way of Transacting? |
In the aftermath of the global Crowd Strike outage, it's a great time to think about how you will operate your site in such an event.
Have you considered what you will do to continue operating and record transaction data in the event of a significant disruption? |
IT outages, power outages, weighbridge failure, natural disasters and significant system disruptions are all examples of incidents that can affect your ability to transact normally.
To avoid closing sites and turning customers away, we recommend having a Business Continuity Plan (manual processing) in place. Here’s what you should consider:
Having a plan ready in advance will ease the strain on your team and will minimise the disruption for your customers. Reach out to our support team if you’d like some assistance. |
