We had the pleasure of speaking with Jamie Lobb, Manager of Resource Recovery and Efficiency, and Jaydon Archer, IT Infrastructure Specialist, from Dubbo Regional Council about their experience onboarding and operating their waste facilities and services with Mandalay Technologies. |
‘We chose Mandalay because we knew it was a proven system for waste facilities, but we also chose it because we knew we could do add-ons. For us, it’s about the bigger picture.’ - Jamie Lobb |

Facility Analytics & Reporting |
New Reports Available |
This month saw the release of two new Paged Reports and one new Data Export. All now available for use within Facility Management. |
Paged Reports: |
Site Product Summary – provides a summary of products grouped by site and direction. Clients do not appear in this report, and additional filters will allow you to refine by direction or exclude specific products.
Client Detail Product Report Without Pricing – provides the same information as the existing Client Detail Product Report, however, all pricing has been removed from the report. |
Data Export: |
Vehicle Tares with Last Usage Date – provides the same information as the existing Vehicle Tares report, however, an additional column has been added to the report to identify when a vehicle was last used. Check out this month’s tip to find out how this information could be used to improve your operations.
A detailed article about these new reports, along with some other minor updates to existing reports is available on the Customer Service Portal (CSP).

Tips of the Month |
Stored Tare Intervals |
Do you have a Stored Tare Interval set for the vehicles that use a stored tare at your facility?
If the interval has been set to zero, the vehicle will never be asked to re-tare. This means that you will not periodically validate the tare weight of the vehicle, which may lead to inaccurate transaction weights. |
Each facility determines a re-tare interval that aligns to their risk profile and business processes and we commonly see the frequency set to 90 days.
Updating and Managing Vehicle Stored Tares
The Stored Tare Interval can be managed from the Vehicles tab within Facility Core Administration. Read this article on the Customer Service Portal for more detail.
To help you identify which vehicles have been set with a stored tare interval of zero, a data export report is available in Facility Management named ‘Vehicle Tares with Last Usage Date’. The report will also show you how many loads a vehicle has brought into your facility since their last re-tare date, helping you narrow down which vehicles you should focus on first. |
Viewing Inbound Transactions |
For customers using Facility Analytics & Reporting Premium, when using the Productivity Dashboard within Facility Insights, did you know that you have the ability to display only inbound transactions? |
Simply click on the drop-down arrow for the relevant site within the Site & Direction slicer, found on the left hand side of the dashboard. As you unselect items, the information within the dashboard will update. To get the best experience from your reporting suite, remember to assign your products to Groups, Categories and Source & Destination Locations.
Note, this Insights dashboard is only available to customers with a Premium Facility & Analytics Reporting subscription. If you are interested in upgrading your Facility Analytics and Reporting product to access this and other premium features, please get in touch. |

Summer is Just Around the Corner |
Is Your Organisation Disaster Ready? |
That time of year is already upon us where we need to prepare for the likelihood of floods, severe storm damage, fires and dust storms.
During disasters, there is little time to react. Planning in advance will ensure better outcomes. |
How prepared are your facilities for disaster?
-
Do you have a disaster plan in place for your waste facilities?
-
What approach do you have for measuring volumes and transactional movements of waste?
-
What is your communication plan if disaster hits?
-
How will you manage pre-emptive free tipping or clean up days as part of your disaster response strategy?
Having the tools ready in advance of an event will limit the effort required when disaster does strike.
Mandalay is here to support your preparation efforts and can offer support across the following key areas:
-
Best practice data collection and gatehouse operation
-
Disaster waste data collection
-
Daily reporting and data collation

Proactive Hardware Reviews |
Keeping Your Hardware Up-to-Date |
Are any of your PC’s or site hardware out of warranty? Now is a good time to check your devices and critical backend infrastructure to ensure everything is still in working condition in preparation for the new year. |
Out of warranty devices can expose various risks to your business including increased downtime due to lack of support from manufacturers, particularly if these units are to fail over the Christmas period. |
If you have a device that is out of warranty, reach out to Mandalay’s support team to order a replacement. |
